“The Most Amazing Cinema Bus in the World”
George Clarke, Amazing Spaces
The Vintage Mobile Cinema is a unique slice of cinema and automotive history. The only survivor of seven vehicles, custom built for the Ministry of Technology in the late 1960s in order to promote British industry.
Lovingly restored in 2010, the 22 fully upholstered tiered seat movie theatre is sound insulated and climate controlled. All films are shown on the high definition digital projection unit, complete with Dolby 7:1 surround sound for that full cinematic experience.
Affectionately called ‘Audrey’, she has more recently become a little bit of a TV celebrity. Appearances include the BBC series The Reel History of Britain, and George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.
In 2015 the cinema was reunited with its trailer unit, after being separated for 40 years. This trailer is being restored and will be a working cocktail bar when finished (approx Nov 2019)
